Rurality 2.0 Shintaro Miyazaki

Sound researcher and media theorist Shintaro Miyazaki has a deep interest in trans-sonic aspects of everyday information technology. Miyazaki is a member of "laptoporchestra berlin - endliche automaten" and toured with them all over Europe, lately through Romania, Bulgaria, Croatia and Hungary. In his solo works he used to work with laptop using self made interfaces, but lately he got interested in the hidden sounds of everyday electronic devices. Miyazaki uses coils to detect the unwanted electrowave emissions of our IT-gadgets and DIY-made equipment to hear the hifreq-modulations of digital radio waves. He is currently a Ph.D. researcher at the Humboldt University in Berlin. In 2008 he founded the Institute for Algorhythmics, his latest research, art and design project.
