Participants are supposed to be invited in public of the venue Interferenze 2006 and they may bring any kinds of device that can play a sine wave such as laptop PCs, synthesizers, analog oscillators, loudspeaker equipped iPods, PDAs or mobile phones. We also prepare devices and software that can play a sine wave for those who does not have these kind of devices or software. People can download a software from our web site (www.swo.jp) as well.
The Sine Wave Orchestra is a participatory sound performance project that has been started since 2002 by four core members. Under the concept that each participant plays a sine wave, people are invited in public to create a sea of sine waves as collective sound representation. By taking in different environment and style, it has presented its works in several international exhibitions included DEAF 2004, "open nature" at NTT ICC in 2005, and Yokohama Triennale 2005. Through sharing/separating the time and the space, the sine wave played by each participant interferes with each other and represents a communication among the participants as an abstract form.
