Artists>>AGF
AGF aka Antye Greie Fuchs calls herself e-poetess or powerful poemproducer in lack of a better description. She works mainly as a vocalist, musician, producer, artist, since 1996 permanently based in Berlin. She was born and raised in East Germany and developed an early interest for music and poetry and philosophy. AGF presents a mix of poetical texts, both sung and spoken against a dynamic background of rustling electronic sound. She began to work with this in the past with the German-language band Laub, and as AGF has refined her approach to create an intimate, dreamy whole that can be listened to as short audio trips. Since 2001, Orthlorng Musork has released her album "Head Slash Bauch" and "Westernization Completed". In the words of Piero Scaruffi, these works "contain cubist puzzles of voice and rhythm as if she had shuffled the chronology of a stream of consciousness. The former employs lyrics based on software data, whereas the latter has more personal stories to tell. Her vocal style is recitation rather than singing, somewhere between Brecht's theater and a chanteuse's movie. [...] Rhythms (mostly fractured, distorted, morphed) are employed only to the extent to grant menacing or disorienting qualities to her futuristic collages".
Recently, she is been exploring speech and spoken word into electronic music, sound installations, pop songs, calligraphy and in the world wide web. In her works, the voice is central to the music, either treated into ethereal soundscapes, softly singing snippets of melodies or confessing her thoughts on language, thoughts that have been chopped up, shuffled, and left to the listener to piece together. In addition to her solo projects, Antye Greie has received critical acclaim for her work with Zavoloka, Sue Costabile, Craig Armstrong and Vladislav Delay (Luomo and Agf/Delay) on labels such as Kitty Yo, Mille Plateaux, Disco Bruit, Asphodel, Nexsound and Crosstalk. In 2004, she has founded AGF Producktion, "a tool by AGF to release her own music or in collaborations with others created music".
